Clever use of sea lion populatoin as an ecological proxy. The 5x increase since 1979 is pretty compeling data to counter the overestimated harm claims. I remeber seeing similiar patterns with baseline studies around other coastal facilties, organisms tend to adapt way better than initial impact assesments predict. The white sharks following the sea lions is kinda wild tho.

I agree that the increase in the sea lion population at Diablo Canyon over four decades is an easy-to-understand way for the public to comprehend that DCPP is helping wildlife thrive. I dug deeply into the literature to learn about this dimension.

physics continues to beat platitudes. great news

The importance of physics is a common thread in all of my GreenNUKE articles. I served as a physics professor at Cuesta College, near San Luis Obispo, California.

yes, Dr Nelson, I was merely riffing on Doomberg's favorite saying, in the contest between physics and platitudes, physics is undefeated.

thank you for all you do on this subject

Thank you, Daph for your endorsement! Advocating for Diablo Canyon has been a huge project. There have been abundant reverses, such as the one that happened to me and my Toyota RAV4 while returning from the California Public Utilities Commission meeting in San Francisco on December 1, 2025. The successes and the emotional support that I've received keep me going. I've been working on the Diablo Canyon project for almost two decades. I've invested over 30,000 hours on the project, which utilizes my training as a Ph.D. radiation biophysicist. This is my legacy.
