The County of San Luis Obispo California is advancing California legislation to extend DCPP operations to 2045 and restore lost local government funding.
In a late-breaking development, the County will focus on getting restoration of the missing DCPP property tax dollars until 2030 only. This would be a one-time cash infusion like was done with SB 1090 (Monning, 2018.) :-( On February 17, 2026, CGNP is still seeking a California legislator willing to back extended DCPP operations at least until 2045. Crazy.
Good news indeed. By chance have you heard if the powers that be in the state are going to be granting clean energy credits for large hydro and nuclear when the state moves from the RES to the clean energy standard?
I was in favor of granting CEC's for nuclear back when the 33% RES was being evaluated. The CPUC is looking at a slice of day metric (1) these days so I assume Diablo's output will have more value during the morning and evening ramps.
The Clean Energy Standard (CES) is a logical fact-based policy that would reward pollution-free electric generation. OTOH, Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) are not fact-based policies. RPS programs exclude nuclear and large hydroelectricity. The RPS program was created and enhanced via generous special - interest lobbying. RPS programs have significantly increased the cost of power across the United States, particularly in blue states.. California has a long history of incredibly stupid moves. So I can see you 25% bet. Hopefully as we have increasing outrages the amazing California voters will wake up to the Democrats and their fraud and violence and corruption and move to a rational government that preforms b
Yes. Recently, California has been distinguished by having the greatest number of significant power outages (longer outages with more customers affected.) Part of the problem is that too many people believe the Socialist "thought leadership" that a modern Western industrial society will run on sun and breezes. Tell that to the eleven people depending on reliable electricity who died as a consequence of the April 28, 2025 Iberian Peninsula blackout. Thank you for getting the word out. For more than a decade, I've spent a huge amount of time and money to get to this point. I appreciate any assistance on this big task to oppose special interests such as Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE.) BHE wants to shut down DCPP for their commercial advantage. CGNP has indirect information that BHE has profited from the unnecessary cessation of San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station (SONGS) at the end of January, 2012.
